A Boeing 737-800 operated by Malta Air on behalf of Ryanair, registered 9H-QEU, returned to Thessaloniki after a cabin window shattered during its flight to Memmingen.
Flight FR1879 was climbing through approximately 15,000 feet when one of the cabin windows failed. The passenger seated next to the window was reportedly partially pulled through the opening, with their head and upper body briefly outside the aircraft. Other passengers pulled the individual back into the cabin. Oxygen masks were deployed following the loss of cabin pressure.
The flight crew descended the aircraft below 10,000 feet and decided to return to Thessaloniki. The aircraft landed safely around 75 minutes after departure, while the affected passenger was taken to hospital for treatment.
